Jun. 11th, 2023 12:11 pmToday I put anti-rabbit cages on a couple more plants, dangit. Adolescent rabbits are still a strong presence in the yard.
Despite the very dry conditions (we are not in a drought yet, just very dry) the yard is managing. We did put the sprinkler out on a couple of trees, and of course I am watering the vegetables and things in pots. But the ferns, cup plant, bronze-leaf dervilla, elderberries, bee balm, raspberries, pussy willow, pagoda dogwoods, blue-flag irises, and a host of other things are all doing fantastic.
The woodpecker chicks are big enough now that we can occasionally see their beaks up at the nest opening. It is adorable and they are LOUD. We think there are three or four chicks, but we're not sure.
This weekend has been pretty awful for my pain levels. I spent Friday *particularly* stoned. (THC, medical or otherwise, has proven to be the best thing for my chronic pain. Way better than narcotics, better than prescription NSAIDS.) But the weather fronts have moved through, it seems. I am, in fact, going to an outdoor concert today because the weather is forecast to be absolutely lovely.
