Ever since I read that Americans waste upwards of 40% of food I have dramatically reduced my own food waste. I also started to drop off my food scraps to the composting site. I have 1/5th of the trash I used to have and I don't even come close to filling a 12 gallon kitchen trash bag and most of that ends up being kitty litter.
