Food kicks

I get food kicks.

Times when all I want to eat is one of about, oh, three things, maybe. Sometimes it's just one thing, sometimes it's as many as five.

I have spent my whole life fighting against these kicks. Because, oh, I don't know. Because it's weird. Because it's not healthy. Because grown-ups aren't picky eaters. Because I was making food decisions with another person who wanted more variety. Because sometimes the food kick is something it's better to eat in moderation. Because sometimes the food kick is expensive.

As my medical crap over the last few years has devastated my sense of taste and smell, I have just run out of fucks to give. Almost nothing tastes good. Almost nothing TASTES. When I find a food I am actually excited to eat, I ride that wave until it passes and give small thanks that I am enjoying a food, any food.

For the last few weeks it's been two things; pho from the local thai shop, and palak paneer. Luckily, my food kick accepts the Deep brand frozen palak paneer, found at the corner market across the street from the thai place. Both are six blocks away. The only problem is parking, sometimes.
