Yuletide reveal!
Jan. 1st, 2021 01:15 pmI thoroughly enjoyed writing for Yuetide this year. But, before I reveal what I wrote, I want to again mention the wonderful fic I received.
Worth It, by vendettadays, is a Haunting of Bly Manor character study of Jamie, with canon-appropriate warnings for everything you might expect. It is sad and sweet and historically faithful, and it's exactly what I had hoped for.
I wrote If Grace Is Too Much, a Zale and Bishop Beartongue fic from the T. Kingfisher novel Paladin's Grace. (AO3 isn't sure whether the fandom is Paladin's Grace or Temple of the White Rat Universe.)
It's a casefic, but also a meditation on families of origin, and how we never know what our lives look like to others. Not even the people who love us most. Perhaps especially not to them.
I also managed to squeak in a Madness fic, Interview Transcript: Three Jokes About Sex, a meditation on the humor of the People of the Valley, from LeGuin's Always Coming Home.
I will say, writing about how humor is difficult is, in fact, difficult.
