I went to the World of Oddities goth expo today, and had an absolute blast. Here are some observations, in no particular order.

1. It was in the Hyatt in Minneapolis. The last time I was there was for CONvergence in, oh, I don't know, 2019? 2018 maybe? And, WOW, the hotel is run down. No decor, dirty, things in need of repair, malfunctioning parking ramp meters, just -- whuff. Not in great shape at all. (NB, I was only in the first floor public spaces.)

2. It was GREAT to be in a room full of people who were just all happy and excited to be there. (I mean, obviously not EVERYONE was happy, but, like, that was the vibe.)

3. The range and diversity of people was great.

4. The range and diversity of goth was great. Cute goth, neon goth, trad goth, pagan goth, techo goth, just, so many different subspecies of goth.

5. I did not, ultimately, buy any skulls. As much as I am a huge fan of skulls, bones, etc., and as much as these were ethically sourced, I had a suspicion that every time I looked at the rabbit skull I would think about our yard rabbit, or a coyote skull would make me worry about our neighborhood coyotes. So, no skulls.

6. I sat down to watch the goth belly dancer, not so much for the dancing, which was good, but because I put earplugs in and sat DIRECTLY in front of the speakers, allowing the bass and drums to vibrate my organs. It was absolutely lovely.

7. I have never in my life wanted so much to be a pagan as I did looking at the incredibly aesthetic religious stuff for sale. I did not buy any, because I do not purchase other people's religious items for art.

I spent all the cash I had brought with me, and had a great time.
