Update of unconnected things
Nov. 27th, 2023 01:15 pmHad a regular dental cleaning and checkup this morning. I used to go once a year, because I am a genetic sport gifted with AMAZINGLY GOOD teeth. But I am on meds now that give me constant moderate dry-mouth, and that puts me at high risk for cavities and gum disease. I am not super-worried about cavities, I've had a couple tiny ones, I know they hurt, but they are solvable. I *am* worried about gum disease. It has been linked to increased risk of heart disease and now, apparently, Alzheimer's. And I've met my body, if I got gum disease I would never fight it all the way off, it would just ENTRENCH in my system and I would be dealing with it the rest of my (probably shortened) life.
But things look good still, and I will go back in six months.
In other news, an unforseen side effect of watching a lot of K-Dramas is that seeing all the food makes me hungry. SO I have started making tiny forays into learning about and cooking Korean food. The thing I learned today? The thing that makes me one of today's Lucky 10,000? Is that there is such a thing as fresh kimchi, and it is DELICIOUS.
See, I have always disliked kimchi when I have tried it. I detest almost all fermented foods. But I found a recipe for a fresh kimchi with white cabbage, made it, and it is amazing. I love it. I intend to eat it all very quickly.
