I laughed so hard I cried at The Marvels. I swear I haven't done that with a movie in YEARS. It was Made For Me; I'm very happy to hear it entertained you, too. I hope Vellani has a long and amazeballs career.
On subsequent viewings, the plot has Very Large Problems, mostly (I think) to how fast things and events happen in relation to each other. But they do lampshade this at least once, and I am SO GLAD they made a fucking romp of a film.
Romp is a perfect word for it. I heard speculation from various online reviewers that there was a lot of studio interference in making and cutting it together, which makes me sad for the movie we never got, but happy for the moments that sparkled.
