JWhedon's forthcoming HBO series

What the ever-lovin' fuck.

So, JayDub is heading an HBO series about a team of Victorian women with superpowers.

Count me the hell out.

Twenty-six year old me would be THRILLED. But forty-six year old me knows how he doesn't stop abuse or sexual misconduct on his productions. How he is vindictive against women who get pregnant. And I have seen, far too many times, his eroticization of women who have been abused but are now powerful.

I don't want to see that on an HBO series, with all the rape and abuse just sitting there, tits out.

So, you know, if it turns out that he's just the producer, and the episodes are directed by queer women of color with full cinematographical autonomy and complete control of editing, let me know.

Until then? No thanks.

Hi! Hi hi hi! Welcome back to DW!

It is a sadness in my heart, how JW's name alone just brings up this deep UGH from within me. Like, SERIOUSLY, does he have a Dorian Grey picture somewhere that is siphoning off all of his emotional development for him so he can stay at his 90s era level of "feminism"?

So yeah, I hear you on this.

Just wait until the first shots of the cast in costume turn up, if there's an incredibly skinny dishevelled-looking girl running around barefoot in Victorian underwear we'll know nothing's changed.
